Dad

The likeness of my Dad in this portrait is good.  I like that he is activated by the bright orange in the background that picks up on the zipper tape.

Pigeon Trio

This is a composite of faces of a unique model named Pigeon that I created during life drawing class sessions.

She has many looks. I added the pigeon to further identify her.

Conquering Corona

This a modernized portrait painting from a charcoal drawing of Olimpio Fusco by John Singer Sargent dated 1900-1910.  Sargent chose to draw this young Italian boy for his beauty.

I needed a handsome, athletic man and since none was on hand, I picked Olimpio to squeeze the life out of the corona virus.

The Artist Staying Busy during the Corona Pandemic

This portrait with circles was inspired by a previous work, Cotton Picker.

When the corona virus hit I decided the circles were like the virus, all around us.  The shirt and necklace continue the circle virus theme. Everything except my face is covered because there is no escape.

I am smiling because what can you do.  I am glad that painting keeps me busy.

Sheltering in Place

David and Kylie share an intimate moment after the ceremony converting Kylie to Judaism. She has just come out of the ritual bath called a mikveh. The water is warm.

What does David's look say?  Kylie is just turning two years old.  Is she reacting or expressing?

Due to the pandemic, I am calling this painting Sheltering in Place. A child is safe in her father's arms.
